Garage Fire in Williston for Ladder 3
At 6:52pm on February 12th, the Essex Junction Fire Department was requested to respond with Ladder 3 mutual aid to the Town of Williston to Lyman Drive for a structure fire. Ladder 3 and Utility 61 responded with a total of seven personnel and arrived to find smoke and fire showing from the second floor of an attached garage.
The crew from Essex Junction threw ground ladders to the second floor and briefly staged on the scene before being assigned to the second floor. Crews operated for less than half an hour on the second floor performing fire extinguishment and overhaul before being sent to the garage floor for more overhaul duties. In total the crew operated on scene for roughly two hours completing various ventilation, suppression, overhaul and salvage duties before being released by Williston fire command.
Due to the location of the home in a non hydrant area, tankers and engines were called from Essex Town, Underhill-Jericho, Richmond, Hinesburg, South Burlington and Air Guard, as well as a tower truck from Burlington. Due to the quick knockdown and extensive overhaul, the fire was contained to the garage and the home was minimally damaged by smoke.
