~~ On 9/28/2015 at approximately 14:51 hours, the Essex Fire Department responded to Vermont Route 128 near the intersection of Weed Road for a motor vehicle crash with entrapment. The Essex Junction Fire Department, and Essex Rescue were simultaneously dispatched as well. Upon the arrival of the Fire Chief approximately 2 minutes later, Clarks Truck Center was summoned with heavy wreckers to assist with this difficult extrication. Heavy wreckers from Tail Hook Towing were also summoned by the owners of the trucking company and working as a team, the patient was removed from the car approximately 45 minutes into the call. The driver of the car suffered severe life threatening injuries and was transported to the UVM Medical Center by Essex Rescue. Essex Police, Vermont Department of Motor Vehicle Inspectors, and the Vermont State Police Traffic Safety Team all responded to investigate this crash.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and her family as she struggles with her injuries at the UVM Medical Center.

As tragic as this incident is, the outcome to date is the result of coordinated teamwork by all the emergency responders this day.
